Annual cleanup at Hidden Beach by residents of Rio Del Mar. Their report: "Hundreds of pounds of spent munitions were retrieved. We had to go home to get a wagon to pull it all out. We also extinguished quite a few bonfire hotspots."

On Halloween night (Saturday), Howard reported seeing "an illegal fireworks display that came from the south eastern side of the Elizabeth Oaks apartment complex." He reported that "the first one was 10:35 PM and the next one was at 10:52 PM."
On Sunday I received an email from an FFF Supporter who lives on Harper Street. He said on Sunday morning he had found a large box of spent fireworks in the middle of the basketball court at Jose Park. He placed it in a large plastic bag, so as not to disturb fingerprints. He took it home.
Also on Sunday, Michael and I discovered spent fireworks detritus in the middle of the main lawn of Jose Park. I photographed them in situ and left them there. This afternoon we stopped by Jim's house and retrieved the box of fireworks (still in the protective plastic bag), brought it home and photographed it also.
The first picture (below) is the loose fireworks leftovers on the park's lawn. There were eight other pieces out of view of this picture. The remaining pictures are of the Brother's Blond Joke box of 36 rockets. These are stamped Made in China and look at how they are marketed to young men. 'Nuff said.
A report, including these pictures will be sent to the Sheriff, plus we will be taking the box to the Service Center as evidence.

Report by Linda Schutte-Konzen
I spent most of the evening and all of the night at Main Beach. Here are some of the used fireworks left in the tidal zone by beach visitors. The total scene was overwhelming. The beach looked like a landfill. The entire evening it was like a war zone. Not one officer was on Main Beach. Amazing someone wasn't seriously injured. At 12:30 am I called to report entire garbage containers going into the ocean.
