Although the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office does not generally receive fireworks for destruction, in the weeks prior to and after July 4th, they will have the means to receive fireworks for destruction. You can contact them at (831) 454-7682 to inquire about disposing of fireworks.

Press release from Santa Cruz County Sheriff, July 1, 2013:
"In all unincorporated areas of the county possession of any fireworks including those designated as SAFE and SANE are unlawful. A County Ordinance for penalty enhancements during holiday periods makes it a $1,000.00 fine for persons arrested for fireworks violations, possessing open containers of alcohol in public, consuming alcoholic beverages in public and noise violations from July 2nd thru July 6 th ."
